Is the new Dualtron Storm LTD much better?

Seeking some advice... I have a few scooters, and in January I purchased the new Dualtron Thunder 2 72V version. I've added some extra bits, Steering damper etc. I purchased because of new laws - restricting to 60V - so Minimotors advised that this is likely to be the fastest ever available.
However the newer Storm Limited is now available and its 84V and has higher range and speed. The restriction law hasn't changed and is unlikely to affect scooter voltages now.
Would others recommend the Storm Ltd compared to the Thunder 2? Is it that much better? My Thunder 2 has only 500km and I can exchange for small fee...

Thanks - I did see this information. Difference for me is that I am located in Korea (home of Minimotors) so I trust that locally they have already fixed this issue?

I enjoy riding my scooter fast. Basically wide open throttle always. My iWheel used 4 controllers in only a few months - iWheel said that can only use full power for short period of time :-(
So - when buying the Thunder 2, I checked data, forums and made it very clear to MiniMotors - I will ride this as fast as it will go from full battery to empty, recharge and repeat. I checked that it was capable of maximum duration/distance at full speed - yes the Thunder 2 has been amazing good.
I require the same from the Storm Limited....

Thanks for reply MadCharge... I have decided to buy the Storm Limited, add extra headlamp and use the new upgraded folding clamp that I ordered for my Thunder 2 on the Storm. (they are the same here).
I'll give feedback this afternoon, I collect the Storm at midday, then ride from Yogin to Gangnam and return. About 35km each way / very flat ride. Just need the rain to stop...

I was hoping that in the home of MiniMotors (Korea) they have resolved any/all issues - alas they have not :-(

First things first - Storm Limited is an outstanding improvement from Thunder 2. The scooter balance and stability at 60km/h plus speeds is second to none. I am very much liking the Storm Limited, however after only maybe 10km I suffered the inherent issue of noisy rear motor above 65km/h - the problem only became worse, so I have returned it to MiniMotors HQ in Korea, I'm back to riding my Thunder 2 for a few days...

The only disappointment other than the obvious fault everyone is having with Storm Limited - is the lack of better quality or after market headlamps. I had a very sketchy 8km ride home on Saturday night. It was well after dark and riding above 50km/h with the only headlamps below deck level was almost like riding at night with sunglasses on :-) I stopped at a local supermarket and paid about US$5:00 for a cheap LED bicycle light that I fitted to the handle bar. Better, but upon return the the Minimotors store today to return for speed noise problems, I purchased a 3D printed bracket along with a 12V surplus battery and 2 x 12V LED headlamps. I'll post pictures next week, currently its necessary to run a secondary battery for accessory headlamps and they need to be independent of the Storm Limited 84V system - only because nobody has yet manufactured accessory headlamps for 84V (limited to 72V) at this time.
Hopefully Minimotors acknowledge the global issues with Storm Limited and fix with a proven, reliable solution allowing for the advertised boosted speed to 125km/hr ????

Minimotors Korea - have returned my Dualtron Storm Limited after I suffered the inherent noise and speed issues - same as international customers. Unfortunately all they have done is de-tune the settings. My scooter has the original controller, original motors, but now has detuned output and is less fast and has less acceleration than my Thunder 2. Please can any/all International customers keep me well informed of what MiniMotors is doing to resolve the Storm Limited performance? Overall for the first 6miles or so - the scooter was amazing, well balanced, excellent acceleration, speed and balance. If it could stay like the first 6 miles - I'd be very happy....

Looks like they already found a fix for their problem, i just found out this info on voromotors retailer website.

new motor package installed
including larger 70 mm motors
wider rims and tires
wider swing arms
new EY3 display and throttle
improved electrical connections

Wait for the next batch, or you can ask them directly to preorder one :)

Okay team, Storm Limited is somewhat improved. Still not yet ideal - but working on it...
This weekend, I had some improved parts added, single Shimano brake lever with bias adjustment, new 12V auxiliary battery to power 2 x LED 12V headlamps (nobody is yet making 84V LED's to suit scooter voltage) - however I'm happy to be running headlamps on an auxiliary battery to maintain motor energy and distance... I've also added a Folding Stem adapter - I originally bought this for my Thunder 2 - however before it arrived I sold the Thunder 2 and got the Storm Limited - fortunately it fits the Storm Limited! :-) Finally I added my signature bicycle bell / I'm happy to use the electric horn when I'm alerting motor vehicles on the road, however I also like to generally use a gentle ding ding, if I'm approaching pedestrians, especially on the cycle pathways in Korea. Finally, I'm widened the handle bars by 3/4 inch each side to accommodate a proper ignition key (finger print reader was simply unreliable). For the finger print reader, I programed just one finger / 4 times, so the it was getting different angles or profiles of the same finger - however more often than not it failed to recognise me :-(

Storm Limited speed issue....
My Storm is now running at maximum capacity. It would appear that once released in Korea, the Storm Limited already has all the improvements USA is expecting...
The problem however that I personally have is isolated to just my Storm Limited. It initially appeared to be a faulty rear motor, phasing 12 cycles correctly then either skipping one or firing once in the wrong direction? This causes a major motor vibration / especially bad over 65km/h. It appears that this is now sorted, and the motor is running properly / except maybe due to the initial error, it is now simply out of balance. Just like a motor vehicle tire / it is getting a major speed vibration that resonates / first at about 35km/h then again ant 60km/h. I'm a little worried that pushing past the 60km/h vibration is only going to result in every nut screw and bolt shake loose. So I'm waiting for MiniMotors HQ to open during the business week - see if they will send me a replacement rear motor?

One question for any others with Dualtron Storm Limited - is the suggested 75Mile/hour speed realistic or just theoretical? Aside from the issues with my rear motor - My Scooter definitely displays 100km/hr speed, but my GPS speed is really only about 80km/hr. After the motor is fixed, should I expect more?

Here is the single lever LH brake with bias valve - this is amazing at quickly slowing to stop from fast speeds...

MiniMotors Head Office and Dualtron Storm Limited update...
MiniMotors HQ have contacted me, and they are preparing a new rear motor and hub assembly. It appears that my was/is faulty from the factory. However - China and COVID-19 lockdowns in Shanghai are causing havoc with freight and getting products out of China. This is likely to be delaying the proposed resolution for Storm Limited customers everywhere including the USA.
I hope to have new parts within a few weeks...
However - whilst waiting, I have now upgraded my stem post to the fixed (solid - non-folding version) and installed a handlebar stem adapter. Altering the stem - handlebar adapter has enabled me to install non-folding carbon fibre handle bar. I'll endeavour to post pictures soon... The handlebar upgrade is great, it gives the kickboard more positive steering feedback and is a significant weight reduction...
